About Mayday Tree Services
At Mayday Tree Services, we believe arboriculture is more than keeping trees looking good or removing them when they become hazardous. Caring for trees as part of a healthy environment drives us every day. We are passionate about helping trees thrive, ensuring they remain a valuable part of our shared ecosystem for years to come.
Our Philosophy: Protect First, Remove Only When Necessary
When you spend your days 60 feet off the ground, you gain a deep appreciation for trees—not just as towering landmarks but as living, breathing parts of the environment. You begin to understand what they need, how they grow, and what we, as arborists and community members, can do to nourish and protect them.
At Mayday Tree Services, we prioritize tree health and preservation, working with homeowners and property managers to extend the life of their trees whenever possible. We see our clients as long-term partners in tree care, so we provide highly skilled expertise, honest recommendations, and excellent service every step of the way.
Meet Jas Bergeron
Owner & Lead Arborist
Jas Bergeron has been an ISA-certified arborist for nearly two decades and holds a Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ), making him an expert in proactive tree care and hazardous tree assessment.
His journey into arboriculture began in 2005 in Australia, where he was immersed in the tree care industry and developed a passion for the work. After moving to Edmonton in 2007, he continued honing his skills, becoming fully ISA-certified in 2011.
Over the years, Jas noticed a concerning trend—most tree services focused on removal rather than preventative maintenance. This gap in the industry inspired him to launch Mayday Tree Services in 2021 to help clients preserve and protect their trees rather than defaulting to cutting them down.
Since then, Mayday Tree Services has grown from a two-person operation to a skilled and dedicated team with the same commitment to tree care. Jas remains actively involved in every project, from the first consultation to the final cut, ensuring every tree gets the attention it deserves.
What It Means to Be ISA Certified
At Mayday Tree Services, our ISA certification reflects a commitment to expert, ethical, and science-based tree care. ISA-certified arborists undergo rigorous training in tree biology, risk assessment, and safe practices to ensure long-term tree health and structural integrity. This certification upholds industry-leading standards and a strict code of ethics, prioritizing honest assessments and responsible care. Whether managing disease, pruning, or mitigating risks, we don’t just work with trees—we advocate for them, ensuring they thrive for years to come while protecting our clients and the environment.
Safety & Expertise You Can Trust
Safety is at the heart of everything we do at Mayday Tree Services—not just for our team but for the communities we serve. Tree care is a year-round responsibility, and every climb, cut, and secured rope is done with careful planning and industry-best techniques.
Climbing a towering tree in a quiet neighbourhood often draws a captivated audience—children watching wide-eyed, neighbours stepping onto their porches, all marvelling at the skill and precision required to navigate the canopy.
In these moments, we know we’re not just arborists but role models for professionalism, respect, and safety. That’s why our team follows strict safety protocols, utilizing ropes, pulleys, bucket trucks, and climbing harnesses to protect our crew and your property. We are fully insured and conduct daily safety meetings to assess risks at each job site, staying vigilant for any hazards.
Trees are powerful, living structures, and working among them comes with great responsibility—one that we take seriously, not just for our own well-being but also for the trust placed in us by the communities we serve.
